Short Black KABAR, Part Serrated with Hard Plastic Sheath, KA-1259

The illustrated KABAR knife is the Short Black KA-BAR Fighting Utility Knife that features a 5 1/4" part serrated 1095 Cro-Van high carbon steel clip point blade with epoxy powder coat and blood groove. Oval Kraton G thermoplastic elastomer handle with powdered metal butt cap and carbon steel guard (butt cap and guard are powder coated). A hard plastic sheath is included with this KABAR Knife. The Short Black KABAR Fighting Utility Knife has an overall length of 9 1/4", and it weighs .40 pounds.

I purchased the short version of the Ka-Bar knife because, for me, it's much easier to carry. I don't need a 12"knife. For larger tasks I carry a small hatchet. I especially like the legendary Ka-Bar quality. And this knife does not disappoint. Very solid feel with the synthetic hand grip and sheath.
I like the slots along the sheath that allowed me to weave it into the MOLLE on my pack. Keeping it within easy reach and ready at a moments notice. Also the knife is held into the sheath by a notch in that engages with the hilt. No need for the strap and snap. Overall a good quality knife. I'm looking forward to many years of use.

Purchased as a gift for our son in law who served in the Marine Corps and reveres his issue Ka Bar. He was well pleased with the gift particularly with his initials engraved on the blade.
