The illustrated Old Hickory Knife is the Old Hickory Cleaver Knife that features a 7" blade made of carbon steel. This Cleaver Knife has full tang construction with brass riveted hardwood handle scales. The Old Hickory Cleaver has an overall length of 12". Made in the USA.

Caution, high carbon steel will rust if not properly cared for. Clean and oil after use, and keep out of the dishwasher.

You cannot beat the price for a high carbon steel cleaver. This cleaver is perfect for knife projects but if you expecting out-of-the-box kitchen ready knives, these are not showtime ready and you'll have to put an edge on these knives. Keep the bargain price in mind and understand it is high carbon steel. I beveled my cleaver to my liking and smoothed out the belly as it had flat and high spots. I am happy with my the results and how the steel is taking an edge. Great project knife and looking forward to the my razor sharp, hard edge which you'll never get from other knives of the same price.

This is a budget cleaver, but an exceptional value. The handle is workable as it comes, but I will take some sandpaper to it to shape it more to my liking. I have purchased Old Hickory items in the past ant the blades generally needed a little TLC to get a really good edge on them. This time, I opted to have Knivesplus sharpen it and was not disappointed, It is quite sharp and cuts well. For the price, it can't be beat.

With deer season starting next week I needed to add a few knives, and I have relied on Old Hickory for years. My last cleaver was too light and just couldn't hold up. This Old Hickory is stout and will do what I need while butchering.

My father had one like this, he kept for do many years. Also made by Old Hickory Knife Company, these knives have always been in our family.

As advertised. Good balance and great blade for the money. Hard to find high carbon steel kitchen knives for a reasonable price.
