Boker Folding Hunter Knife - Brown Bone


The illustrated Boker Knife is the Boker Folding Hunter Knife that features clip and skinner blades made of high carbon stainless steel with nail nicks for opening. The jigged brown bone handle of this Boker Knife, 5 1/4" closed, has brass liners, round Tree shield and polished nickel silver bolsters. A genuine leather sheath is included with this Boker knife. The Boker Folding Hunter Knife with jigged brown bone handle is assembled in Germany.

I am a knife collector, recently getting back into slip joints. I bought Boker Tree knives way in the past, but this is my first recent purchase. I took a chance on it for $50 on sale. The most comparable knife that I have bought recently is a Rose Craft slip joint in D2, which was around $50 as well. The fit and finish on the Boker is well below that of the Rose Craft, which is really good. The back spring on the Boker is not snappy and there is no half stop (by contrast to the Rose Craft). The blade grind on the Boker is not great, far below the level of Rose Craft. Overall, I am disappointed that a German-made Boker is so clearly inferior to a Chinese-made knife that has an MSRP well below that of the Boker. Hade I paid full price for this Boker, I'd definitely return it. For $50, I'll probably keep it as a user. I will not be buying any more Boker Tree brand knives. The quality has fallen substantially from what I expected of this venerable brand.
