Barlow an American Icon 08/19/2019

With anticipation I opened the box of a newly minted WR Case and Sons reintroduction of the “Barlow” in CV steel, an American icon to be sure. The sawcut bone covers looked as though this was the one "Tom Sawyer” carried on his adventures down the Mississippi River. I inspected this work of art in detail finding no gaps, blades centered with no play and a perfect pull to ready it for use. I was especially impressed with the flushness of the springs when the blades are open. I was taken back by the beauty and quality of it and would love to meet the artisan who created this work of art. With great pleasure I pocketed this Barlow as I thought of building a raft and heading out on my own adventures. Case not only reintroduced an American icon with this knife, they give us a sense that, even at our not so tender age, we can dream and have our own adventures as we fondle and use this knife that is so much a part of our American Heritage.
