Chris Reeve Knives: Chris Reeve Umnumzaan Knife, Tanto, CRK-UMN1002
The UMN-1002 Umnumzaan Knife, designed by Chris Reeve and manufactured by Chris Reeve Knives, features a 3.675 inch CPM S45VN stainless steel modified tanto blade, .1400 inch thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 59-60. The blade has a special large hollow grind for strength, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, and an ambidextrous thumb stud with polyurethane O-ring shock absorbers (developed by Grant and Gavin Hawk) that locks up against the frame for superior strength against sideways torque. (The blade in the closed position can also serve as a glassbreaker!) The sand blasted 6AL4V titanium handle, 4.77 inches closed, has a sturdy pivot with large pivot screw and pin, and large bronze phosphor washers, and the innovative Reeve Ceramic Ball End Integral Lock that uses a ceramic ball as an interface for the lock bar to the blade tang for consistent solid lock up. (The ball also drops into a detent on the blade to ensure the blade does not open accidentally.) The handle has a lock over travel preventer, machined checkered texturing for secure grip, open frame construction, a lanyard post, and a removable pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The Umnumzaan has an overall open length of 8.409 inches, and it weighs 5 ounces. Proudly made in the USA.
