Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Seismic Knife, Satin Blade, CR-5401
The CRKT 5401 Seismic Knife is a sleek EDC, designed by knifemaker and innovator Flavio Ikoma in Presidente Prudente, Brazil, that features a 3.969 inch drop point blade made of 1.4116 stainless steel, .148 inches thick, with a satin finish, weight reducing top swedge, dual thumb studs that lock up against the handle for superior strength against sideways torque, and a flipper for ambidextrous one hand opening. The black G10 handle, 5.457 inches closed, has steel liners for strength, texturing and milled contours for secure grip, the IKBS Ball Bearing Pivot System for smooth, fast opening, sturdy Deadbolt Lock, dual lanyard holes and a metal pocket clip. The Seismic Knife has an overall open length of 9.438 inches, and it weighs 6.3 ounces. Made in Taiwan.
From the CRKT Product Guide regarding the Deadbolt Lock: Take it at face value and it's a shockingly simple disengagement mechanism - the prominent button is so obvious, take it in hand, and your thumb naturally gravitates in its direction. Under extreme stress is where it shines. Steel pegs interlock with the blade when it's deployed to yield strength that won't so much as flinch under shocking weight.
