Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Septimo Knife, CR-7050
The CRKT Septimo Knife, designed by 14 year Green Beret veteran Jeremy Valdez as part of the CRKT Forged by War Program, features a 3.622" tanto blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, .127" thick, with a top swedge, a non reflective black oxide coat, a single large Veff Serration (for use as a strap cutter), a thumb hole and a flipper for ambidextrous one hand opening. The black 6061 T6 aluminum handle, 4.553" closed, has finger grooves and textured black TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) inlays for secure grip, steel liners for strength, a liner lock, large lanyard hole and a side to side reversible pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The Septimo Knife has an overall open length of 8.188", and it weighs 4.7 ounces. Made in China.
Jeremy Valdez of Tampa, Florida brings combat experience and time serving in the 7th Special Forces Group to the aptly named Septimo™; a tribute meaning "seventh" in Spanish. The main motivation for this design arises from his 2009 deployment to Afghanistan. During combat operations, Jeremy was involved in a helicopter crash. In the chaotic aftermath, the small folder he had failed to perform when he was cutting straps and moving debris while pulling fellow soldiers out of the burning, tangled chopper wreckage.
Duty to his fallen comrades and brothers and sisters in arms drove him to design the Septimo™ with a quick flipper opening, a desert-proof black oxide finish, and friction points on the handles to help deal with inclement conditions. It was given a single Veff Serration™ for impressively effective strap cutting ability.
As part of the Forged By War program, 10 percent of the CRKT net profits from the Septimo Knife will be donated to Jeremy Valdez's charity of choice - The Green Beret Foundation.
