Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Squid XM Knife, CR-2495K

A larger CRKT Squid with D2 blade and Assist! The 2495K CRKT Squid XM Knife, designed by Lucas Burnley of Bend, Oregon, is a larger, assisted variant of the popular Squid EDC that features a 2.95 inch spear point blade made of D2 steel, .10 inch thick, with a non reflective black stonewash finish, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, dual thumb studs, flipper and Assist for ambidextrous one hand opening. The handle, 4.11 inches closed, has a black G10 front, black stonewash stainless steel back, IKBS ball bearing pivot system for smooth deployment, a sturdy frame lock, a handy lanyard hole and removable pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The CRKT Squid XM has an overall open length of 7.03 inches, and it weighs 3.60 ounces. Made in China.

Helicopter Mechanic since 78. Thought I was buying a novelty gift knife(assisted steel bod 2.3") for my daughter. I was thoroughly impressed. This is now the 4th squid. I wanted this XM because it's the longest blade available. Don't like the plastic. The assist spring grinds on the side, and makes a creaking noise when stowing blade. Spring steel against G10 is a foregone conclusion. Still love the unassuming yet functional blade. I have carried 2 variants of the m16 over 20yrs & have not purchased a new knife for me till now. This knife with a 4in blade and serrations would definitely get the attention of EMS flight crews. Loose the plastic, weight is not always a bad thing especially to a gloved hand. Thank you A&P Mechanic.
