Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Thero Knife, CR-6290
The 6290 CRKT Thero Knife, designed by TJ Schwarz of Boise, Idaho, is a stylish everyday carry that features a 3.08 inch sheepsfoot blade made of 8Cr14MoV stainless steel, .125 inches thick, with a non reflective black oxide finish, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, thumb hole and dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one hand opening. The black GRN (glass reinforced nylon) handle, 4.22 inches closed, has a cutout pattern that reveals a carbon fiber underlayer, and a bright red pivot ring for visual interest, a liner lock, and a removable stainless steel pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The Thero Knife has an overall open length of 7.31 inches, and it weighs 3.1 ounces.
From the CRKT website: When the ground trembles, you know it's coming. The Thero™ everyday carry may be supremely thin and lightweight but it's got the bite of a prehistoric carnivore. A skeletal handle looks like an ancient T. rex and will help maintain a solid grip when up against everything from a greasy gasket to a wooly mammoth.
TJ Schwarz is known for high aesthetics that don't budge on utility. Designed in his Boise, Idaho shop, the Thero™ is definitive proof. Named after a group of "beast-footed" dinosaurs called theropods, this everyday carry has the look of a museum relic and an aggressive, lightweight design that's all 21st century.
The high-carbon, stainless steel modified sheepsfoot blade features a black oxide finish that's tough against wear and rust. It's balanced by a glass-reinforced nylon handle with a carbon fiber underlay for aesthetic and toughness. The blade opens quickly with either a flipper or a thumb hole and is held solidly in place with a locking liner.
An ancient artifact meets the future in the Thero™.
