LASER ENGRAVING & MARKING FAQ

 

LASER ORDERING TERMS OF USE:

NO RETURNS ON ENGRAVED/MARKED KNIVES 

Please double check your order to make sure it is exactly what you want before submitting it. Knives Plus is not responsible for errors made by the customer when a product is ordered. 

It is important to note that once the engraving process has begun, the order can no longer be canceled.

Due to copyright infringement and trademark laws, we cannot engrave anything that would be considered copyrighted or trademarked, etc.

Most engraving can be done within 24-48 hours however, this does not include weekends or federal holidays, which may extend the time for the engraving process to be completed. Please consider this when you are ordering, especially if you would like your order on or before a specific date. 

Submitting your order confirms that you agree to the terms as stated above. If you have any questions about the ordering process or terms, please do not hesitate to call us before you submit your order. Again, once an order is submitted and the engraving process has begun, the order cannot be canceled. 

 

What is the difference between laser engraving and laser marking?

Laser engraving removes material. It can vary in depth and is primarily used on aluminum.

Laser marking is a dark mark formed on the top layer of steel. It is permanent and is widely used in manufacturing by companies like CRKT, Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, etc.  Laser marking can only be used on stainless steel.

All aluminum is laser engraved while most stainless steel is laser marked. Titanium can be color marked or engraved. 

Some fonts look better marked, while others look better engraved. If you have questions or need suggestions about which marking is right for your knife, please give us a call. We would be happy to talk with you and get your knife customized just right.

 

What is the turn-around time?

We can complete most jobs within 24-48 hours. Please note that weekends or federal holidays will extend the turn-around time, so we encourage you to consider this before submitting your order.

 

Can I return a knife that has been engraved / marked?

Unfortunately, once a knife is marked or engraved, it is considered customized and cannot be returned. The only exception to this is if Knives Plus has made an error in customizing your order. In this instance, you may return your knife to us and we will cover any expenses associated with the return.

 

Do you guarantee your work?

WE DO!

We guarantee that your laser engraving / marking will match your order. If we make a mistake, we will make it right, PERIOD. If you made the mistake, we will not be able to take the knife back. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE SUBMITTING IT.
