Kershaw Knives: Kershaw Malt Knife, KE-5520

The Kershaw Malt Knife, designed in collaboration with custom knifemaker Gustavo Cecchini, has an innovative handy feature - a flipper with an integral bottle opener. The Malt an all over two tone gray PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and satin finish for visual interest, a 3" modified clip point blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with the aforementioned bottle opener / flipper and SpeedSafe Assist for fast ambidextrous one hand opening. The contoured stainless steel handle, 4.3" closed, has a sturdy frame lock, lanyard hole, contrasting blue backspacer, and a side to side reversible blue pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The Kershaw Malt Knife has an overall open length of 7.1", and it weighs 4.6 ounces.

Here is one awesome knife with some detail design from Gustavo Cecchini who makes knives that go up into the many thousands of dollars. This is a chance to have some of the art and a doggone good knife without having to pay a terrible premium for that design effort. Collaborations are awesome and Kershaw does them as good as anyone. Sale price of 21.99 is literally a steel. Just a bit of Art Deco influence.

I like this knife. It's a quality knife and my only complaint is the pocket clip. I use a left pocket hold and with the way it sits in the pocket the blade release button gets caught on my pocket every time. If the clip was reversible this problem would fix itself. Overall it's a good knife.
