Kershaw Knives: Kershaw Cryo Knife, KE-1555TI

The illustrated Kershaw Knife is the Kershaw Cryo Knife, designed by Rick Hinderer, that features a 2 3/4" drop point blade made of 8CR13MoV stainless steel. The blade of this Kershaw knife has a non reflective matte gray Titanium finish, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, dual thumb studs, Flipper and SpeedSafe Assist for ambidextrous one hand opening. The matte gray Titanium coated stainless steel handle, 3 3/4" closed, has a frame lock and a lanyard hole. A side to side and end to end reversible metal pocket clip is included with this Kershaw knife. The Kershaw Cryo knife has an overall length of 6 1/2" when open. Imported from China.

This was bought as a gift. The recipient isn't a knife guy, but he was delighted with the assisted opening feature. I was impressed with the solid construction, quality feel, and features of this knife. I've had a number of Kershaws over the years, some were excellent, some were just ok, but the Cryo is well made and well designed. The size is good for EDC; the handle is thin thanks to its steel construction, and the blade should be legal in most places because it's less than 3 inches. Non-knife people may mistakenly believe the spring-assisted opening makes it a switch-blade, and some may not be favorably impressed by that function. The recipient liked that he could open it easily via the flipper and spring despite the way age has ravaged his hands. Can't beat it for the price!

Very nice, small EDC knife. Very sharp, quick assisted opening action. Nice in the hand, but a bit heavier than it appears. Hard to beat at the price.
