Spyderco Knives: Spyderco Smock Knife, SP-C240CFP

The C240CFP Spyderco Smock knife is an understated EDC, designed by Kevin Smock and based on his SK23 custom folder, that features a 3.45 inch clip point blade made of CPM S30V stainless steel, .118 inches thick, with a hollow grind, a pronounced choil and notched thumb rest for secure grip, the Spyderco Trademark Round Hole and a discreet flipper tang for ambidextrous one hand opening. The slim carbon fiber G10 laminate handle, 4.50 inches closed, has milled holes to lessen weight, stainless steel liners, sturdy Compression Lock with handy button release, a lanyard hole, and a removable metal clip mounted at the butt end. The Spyderco Smock Knife has an overall open length of 7.95 inches, and it weighs 3.7 ounces. Made in Taiwan.

A Different Kind of Spyderco 08/16/2023

I use the Spyderco Endura everyday in the kitchen for food or opening mail, etc. I own 4 of them and a Lil Native. When I saw the Smock 240CFP, I knew I had to have one. It is so different from my other Spyderco's. The scales are beautiful with the carbon fiber G10 and the blade was scary sharp right out of the box. The action of this knife is very smooth and can be opened with thumb or the flipper. It takes a little getting used to the flipper because it's smooth with no jimping on it. It has become my EDC and my favorite pocket knife. Knives Plus shipped it really fast. Great company to deal with.

I got my Smock from Knives Plus last week. Came razor sharp (added the “want it to shave” option) and I feel like knife makers can stop trying to improve… this design is it. I’ve been mostly a Benchmade type but love the spyderco compression lock. The fact that you can get this quality of knife for half the price of something comparable at Benchmade blows me away. I could not be happier with the size, grind, fit and finish or weight. This has everything right. Do yourself a favor and put one of these in your hands. I can stop looking for “The One” cause it’s finally on my pocket.

Worth The Wait 04/18/2019

Solid built very impressive knife. I love the blade shape. The lock release button is a dream to operate, at least for me and I’d actually prefer it over any other I’ve used. I also like being able to use Spydy hole or flipper tang. One note about the tang. The reduced tang operates slightly different than my other flippers in that it seems to work best with a sort of rolling motion as opposed to a flick. You’ll see what I mean. I never owned a “Custom” knife but this seems very special and unique.

I am so happy with the new Spyderco Smock that I received from Knives Plus. This Smock was in-stock, priced right, and offered with options for personalized modifications. I received an expertly modded Smock with bronzed heat treated hardware, maroon micarta scales. and acid washed blade. I feel lucky to own one! I highly recommend KnivesPlus and their highly skilled mod shop!

I absolutely love this knife! The button lock, and combination of ways to open it make this knife very fidgetable. Zero blade play and perfect centering - which is a feat for Spyderco these days seemingly. This is a keeper; flat out my favorite Spyderco and second favorite in my entire collection to my CRK. That’s big talk for a sub $200 dollar knife.
