The illustrated Spyderco Knife is the Spyderco LionSpy Knife, designed by Gianni Pauletta of LionSteel Knives, that features a 3.62" modified drop point blade made of Elmax steel, .18" thick. The blade of this Spyderco knife has a notched thumb rest and the Spyderco hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The two piece handle, 4.59" closed, has a grooved black G10 front scale and a grooved titanium back scale for secure grip, the R.I.L. Reeve Integral Lock, the Lion Steel RotoLock backup lock and a lanyard hole. A low carry steel pocket clip is mounted at the butt end of this Spyderco Knife. The Spyderco LionSpy Knife has an overall length of 8.43" and it weighs 5.9 ounces. Made in Italy.
From the Spyderco website regarding the RotoLock safety: The LionSpy's lock also includes Gianni Pauletta's patented RotoLock device. This titanium disk serves as an overtravel stop for the lock bar, preventing it from being pushed too far when the lock is released. When the knife is open, turning the RotoLock approximately 1/8 turn clockwise wedges the lock bar in place, preventing unintentional release of the lock and ensuring superior stability during hard-use cutting chores. To close the knife, rotate the RotoLock counterclockwise and push the lock bar laterally to unlock the blade.
